Join the Montecito Trails Foundation

Montecito Trails Foundation is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of public trails in Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria.  Established in 1964, MTF is a volunteer organization funded through tax deductible membership dues and donations. MTF works in collaboration with local agencies and non-profit entities to ensure the continued use of the area's scenic trails.

    2014 Trail Hike Schedule

    Hikes are on Saturdays, generally at 8:30 AM.

    Please try to arrive 10 minutes early to check in and sign release forms. Dogs are welcome if they are under voice control (have leash available).

    The hikes are graded by difficulty: Advanced, Intermediate, or Easy.

    ALWAYS bring plenty of water, also energy snacks.

    Saturday, March 8 at 8:30 AM (arrive 10 minutes early to check in) park in the southwest corner of the Carpinteria High School parking lot. The hike will be on the newly completed Franklin Trail, 2.2 miles to the interim end; then return the same way.800 feet elevation gain. Spectacular views of the Carpinteria area and the Channel Islands.

    Dogs on leash are welcome.

    From US 101 turn off at Linden Ave. or Casitas Pass Rd.; turn toward the mountains; then left on 192 to Carpinteria HS.

  • Hot Springs Canyon Deed Transfer Ceremony

    SANTA BARBARA, CA… Following nineteen months of negotiation with government agencies, utility companies and adjacent landowners, The Land Trust for Santa Barbara County will host a “Handing over the Deed” ceremony on Friday, November 15, at 1:30 pm. This marks the final step in the Trust’s conveyance of 422 acres of land in Hot Springs Canyon to the United States Forest Service.
